The Marmot Earlylight 2-Person Tent gives first-time tent-buyers a great start for backcountry adventures. The double-doors keep you and your partner from trampling each other on the way in and out. Marmot also added full-size double vestibules for plenty of out-of-the-rain storage. When you want to go really light, you can pitch the Earlylight Tent’s fly and footprint while leaving the body in the trunk of your car.br /br /bProduct Features/bul style=”list-style-type: disc; margin-left: 25px;”liMaterial: [Fly] 68D nylon; [Floor] 70D nylon/liliFreestanding: Yes /liliPoles: 2/liliPole Material: DAC Featherlite/liliDoors: 2/liliClip / Sleeve: Clip/liliFloor Space: 54 x 88in (137 x 224cm), 30sq ft (2.8sq m)/liliInterior Height: 39in (99cm)/liliVestibule Space: 18sq ft (1.7sq m)/liliPacked Size: 18 x 7in (46 x 18cm)/liliVentilation: Mesh walls /liliWeight: 5lb 5oz (2410g)/liliRecommended Use: Backpacking, camping/liliManufacturer Warranty: Lifetime/liliCountry of Origin: Azerbaijan/li/ul

Marmot Earlylight 2-Person Tent w/ Footprint Gearloft CustomerReview

My wife and I just got back from a 70 day tour of Europe on a tandem and we used this tent most of the time.br /br /[...]br /br /We were never wet and never cold in the tent. We did have a night in the wind that was loud because of a loose vent, but we could have closed the vent on that side and all would have been good.br /br /We rough camped in fields and woods. Camped in overused campgrounds in Amsterdam and Paris. We had ice on 2 days and many days of rain. br /br /We did not test the tent in hot weather at all.br /br /The tent is short and if you are much over 6 foot you might not fit. I am 6′ and had to make sure I did not slide down. We used the tent with 2 people all of the time and our sleeping bags connect, so that might account for why we were warmer than other users.br /br /The windows were never a problem, except that they make it a bit harder to get the fly on, as they stick to the poles when wet. I would not have them if I had a choice, but my wife likes to be able to see out of them. The window don’t let in any more light than the nylon, but do let you see the weather.br /br /The zippers in the fly are over the tent, so it would seem that the tent would get wet when you get in and out in rain, but we did not have any trouble with this. We did have an umbrella, and used that when getting in and out in heavy rain.br /br /I added cord the the end ties on the fly to get that pulled away from the tent. This seems to be a must, as the fly will touch the tent if you don’t have then ends staked out.br /br /While the tent is free standing the fly is not, you need at least 2 and really 4 stakes to have the tent work in rain or light wind. In a heavy wind you need at least 4 more stakes. In dry and calm conditions you could set up the fly with just a couple of 5lb rocks or some such.br /br /The only real down side to this tent is size and weight, but then that is why it is half the price of the MSR hubba hubba.br /br /The vestibule on the fly were able to hold all of the gear off of the tandem, with room to spare. As we did not have any problems with bugs we could open the doors on the tent and have a bit more room to move around when stuck in the tent during bad weather.br /br /The tent color seems to be designed for hunting season in the USA, and that is OK when in a campground, but it is not so great when you are rough camping and would like to be a little more discrete, but none of the similar tents that I have seen in the USA have muted colors either.
