Swiss Gear Elite Series 12 Person Huge Family Dome Camping Tent SG33151 CustomerReview

This tent is huge! We bought it for our family of 5 and had plenty of room. We didn’t use the extra room as a screened in patio but left it open as one big room for the kids and it worked out great. We also had a pack n play in our room and didnt feel like we where squished inside the tent, We had plenty of room. br /br /My husband was able to set this tent up in the dark by himself. br /br /We love it and had not problems with it.

Columbia Cougar Flats II 15-Foot by 10-Foot 8 Person 2 Room Family Cabin Dome Tent Specifications

Bring the family to the campsite and still have plenty of room to spare with the two-room Columbia Cougar Flats II cabin dome tent. The Cougar Flats II–which sleeps up to eight people–is equipped with both a Cyclone venting system and a GoBe Dry rain protection system. The Cyclone system greatly increases the air circulation within the tent, helping you stay cool on warmer days or dry out after a nasty rainstorm. The GoBe Dry system, meanwhile, ensures that the pounding rain won’t find a way inside. The tent even includes a patented bay window design that lets you keep the windows open during the storm. p The real highlight of the tent, however, is the spacious interior, which divides its ample sleeping space between two different rooms. As a result, you can give the kids one room and the adults the other, or you can use one room as a bedroom and the other as a living space. In addition, the interior of the tent offers plenty of organizational features, such as internal pockets, cupholders for coffee or soft drinks, and a gear loft that holds your valuables out of the way. And once it’s time to leave the campsite, the tent collapses quickly into a wheeled EZ Pak storage bag, which features an expandable zippered gusset for easy stuffing. p Other features include a polyester taffeta body and rainfly, steel and fiberglass poles, two separate doors, and a Camp Port for easy cable passage. The Cougar Flats II measures 15 by 7.16 by 10 feet (W x H x D) and weighs 54 pounds. pstrongKey Features:/strongulliTent Type: Family liSleeping Capacity: 8 Person liNumber of Rooms: 2 liPacked Weight: 54 pounds liTent Floor Length: 15 feet liTent Floor Width: 10 feet liPeak Height: 86 inches liGoBe Dry Ultimate Rain Protection system liCyclone Venting system for better air circulation with rainfly liCamp port for easy passage of cables liTwo windows and two doors liInternal pockets, cupholders, and gear loft liWheeled carry bag liBody and rainfly made of polyester taffeta liSteel and fiberglass poles liEZ Pak expandable storage duffle /ulpstrongAbout Columbia Sportswear/strongbr Founded in 1938, Columbia Sportswear Company has grown from a small family-owned hat distributor to one of the world’s largest outerwear brands and the leading seller of skiwear in the United States. Columbia Cougar Flats II 15-Foot by 10-Foot 8 Person 2 Room Family Cabin Dome Tent CustomerReview

After a tremendous amount of research, I decided this tent was definitely the way to go for our family of four. I will not repeat everything previous reviewers have said here (I read them all and additional ones at other sites), but I do want to let you know that the newest model of this tent is now available through amazon and not a third party seller. The tent listed here is model number CB-9001. The amazon.com buying option is CB-9001-10. I called amazon and they couldn’t give me an answer about the difference. I then called North Pole at 1-866-706-9377 to get the low-down. The CB-9001-10 is the newest, 2010 version. br /br /The difference with newer model:br /1. Added awning: a fabulous addition, especially if you want to leave muddy shoes at the door!br /2. Pole issue has been resolved.br /3. Floor is now made of nylon. The rep says this cuts down on noise and is also less prone to holes. They do strongly advise using a tent saver underneath. Make sure it is slightly smaller than the tent footprint.br /br /Additional Info missing from previous reviews:br /1. Rainfly has a 800mm coating. Tent buying guides usually recommend 1000-1500mm, but this tent does seem water resistant.br /2. Mesh netting is no-see-um rated.br /3. Seams are factory sealed, however rep said you can use Kenyon 3 sealer as extra insurance.br /4. Columbia does not recommend coating the tent. This can have a reverse effect on moisture control!br /5. There is a limited-lifetime warranty on tent, but you must save original receipt.br /6. Yes, the second room does not have its own entrance, but we have a 5 and 4 yr old, so I decided it was a safety PLUS for us.br /br /Hope this helps! I researched the bejeezus out of family, cabin-style tents and this one seems to be by far the best all-around tent for the price, factoring features, materials, quality vs. cost. The only other tent I seriously considered was Eureka’s Titan Luxury Family Tent, but at nearly 0 more, it wasn’t worth the price jump.br /br /In Summary: Buy the newest model of this tent!! Amazon’s price is the same as competitors and you get free shipping. Happy camping! I will update my review after receiving tent. br /br /

Wenzel Beartooth 14- by 10-Foot, 5 Person Pentadome Family Tent Specifications

Sturdy and weather-resistant, the Wenzel Beartooth 14-by-10-foot Pentadome tent offers plenty of center head room and a large sleeping area, making it ideal for a couple of campers with lots of gear or a family of five with a dog. The Beartooth is made of rugged, weather-resistant polyester with a polyurethane coating for reliability, helping it keep water out and warmth in. The welded polyethylene tub-style floor, meanwhile, includes a rain shingle that creates a watershed effect, so rain doesn’t seep in through the seams. And campers will love the variety of ventilation points–including three Dutch D-style doors and three polyester mesh windows–all of which are aided by an updraft ventilation system that improves the overall airflow. p The Beartooth is also quick and easy to set up, with a five-way center hub with a ping-and-ring system, along with a lightweight, shock-corded fiberglass frame. And should you need a place to stash your wallet, keys, and iPod while sleeping, you can turn to the overhead gear loft. Other details include water-resistant thread, zippers, and webbing; a removable fly with hoop frames over the doors, and ABS plastic pegs. pbSpecifications:/bulliBase: 14 by 10 feet liCenter height: 72 inches liArea: 86 square feet liCapacity: 5 people liCarrying weight: 18 pounds liWarranty: 10 years /ulpstrongfont color=CC6600BIGAmazon.com Tent Guide/BIG/font/strongbrstrongfont color=CC6600Selecting a Tent/font/strongbr Fortunately, there are all kinds of tents for weekend car campers, Everest expeditions, and everything in-between. Here are a few things to keep in mind: pstrongfont color=CC6600Expect the Worst/font/strongbr In general, it’s wise to choose a tent that’s designed to withstand the worst possible conditions you think you’ll face. For instance, if you’re a summer car camper in a region where weather is predictable, an inexpensive family or all-purpose tent will likely do the trick–especially if a vehicle is nearby and you can make a mad dash for safety when bad weather swoops in. If you’re a backpacker, alpine climber, or bike explorer, or if you like to car camp in all seasons, you’ll want to buy something designed to handle more adversity. pstrongfont color=CC6600Three- and Four-Season Tents/font/strongbr For summer, early fall, and late spring outings, choose a three-season tent. At minimum, a quality three-season tent will have lightweight aluminum poles, a reinforced floor, durable stitching, and a quality rain fly. Some three-season tents offer more open-air netting and are specifically designed for summer backpacking or other activities. Many premium tents will also feature pre-sealed, taped seams and a silicone-impregnated rain fly for enhanced waterproofing. p For winter camping or alpine travel, go with a four-season model. Because they typically feature more durable fabric coatings, as well as more poles, four-season tents are designed to handle heavy snowfall and high winds without collapsing. Of course, four-season tents exact a weight penalty of about 10 to 20 percent in trade for their strength and durability. They also tend to be more expensive. pstrongfont color=CC6600Domes and Tunnels/font/strongbr Tents are broadly categorized into two types: freestanding, which can stand up on their own, and tents that must be staked down in order to stand upright. Freestanding tents often incorporate a dome-shaped design, and most four-season tents are constructed this way because a dome leaves no flat spots on the outer surface where snow can collect. Domes are also inherently stronger than any other design. Meanwhile, many three-season models employ a modified dome configuration called a tunnel. These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floorplan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration. Many one and two-person tents are not freestanding, but they make up for it by being lighter. Because they use fewer poles, they can also be quicker to set up than a dome. pstrongfont color=CC6600Size Matters/font/strongbr Ask yourself how many people you’d like to fit in your fabric hotel now and in the future. For soloists and minimalists, check out one-person tents. If you’re a mega-minimalist, or if you have your eye on doing some big wall climbs, a waterproof-breathable bivy sack is the ticket. Some bivy sacks feature poles and stake points to give you a little more breathing room. Also, if you don’t need bug protection and you want to save weight, check out open-air shelters. p Families who plan on car camping in good weather can choose from a wide range of jumbo-sized tents that will accommodate all your little ones with room to spare. A wide range of capacities is available for three- and four-season backpacking and expedition tents. Remember, though, the bigger the tent you buy, the heavier it will be, although it’s easy to break up the tent components among several people in your group. It’s also helpful to compare the volume and floor-space measurements of models you’re considering.p

Wenzel Beartooth 14- by 10-Foot, 5 Person Pentadome Family Tent CustomerReview

I would recomend this tent to any family. You can’t find a better value. Set up is really easy if you have 2 people. The tent is very roomy though oddly shaped. I am 5′9 and I could stand up with a couple inches to spare. The is a rather large lip in the front of the main door I am not sure why they made it so tall its kinda a tripping hazzard for clutsy people like us. Overall were are completely satisfied!

High Peak Hyper Lite ~ Backpacking Hiking Camp Camping Compact Hyperlite Tent ~ 2 Person Size CustomerReview

This tent is much larger then it looks. It packs down very small which I’ll be able to throw it in the back of my kayak which I planned to do. Its perfect for 1 or 2 people. I haven’t got to use my tent yet but I set it up to check it out and I was surprised of the size. My friend has a Kelty 2 person, and its the same “style” of tent but mine was few inches wider then his. But exactly the same legth. Also this tent has 2 doors and vestibules which is AWESOME for gear, shoes, etc. Compared to his 1 door and vestibule. Hes a fag though so it doesn’t matter. His poles are def. way better then the fiberglass ones I had got. I read some reviews and some people complain about how the poles break. But the company you buy it from is more then willing to send you another set if they were to break or crack which mine did. I was very upset that it had cracked before I even got to use the thing but they sent me new ones and now I’m a soon to be happy camper :-) . Very good product and dealers.

These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floor plan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration.

Wenzel Cedar Brook 12- by 7-Foot, 4 Person 2 Room Family Dome Tent CustomerReview

I bought this tent for our family to use for summer camping trips to local campgrounds. We used it for the first time last week and it served our needs quite well. There are 4 of us with my wife and two kids and we had plenty of room for sleeping and changing clothes. There was room for a queen sized airbed, two twin airbeds, two duffle bags of clothes and a lantern. Admittedly, there wasn’t much additional floor space, but our main concern was a comfortable place to sleep and change clothes. The weather was perfect the entire time we were there, so I can’t comment on the tent’s rain worthiness, but there was fairly heavy dew on the tent each morning and none seeped through to the inside of the tent. The manufacturer reccommends sealing the seams on the inside of the tent with a waterproof sealant and I did. So, hopefully the first time we have to face a rainy day our tent will remain dry. I am extremely pleased with the purchase of this tent and would highly recommend it to any small family who is looking for a high quality tent for some fun family camping. I wouldn’t recommend it for families larger than 4 people, but 4 can be relatively comfortable. The tent is high enough in the center that most men can stand with a minimum amount of stooping which is nice when getting dressed or just stretching.
