I was initially weary of purchasing this tv due to the problems that other reviewers have posted. I realized that most of the problems occured with other models of this tv so I went ahead and and got it and have had no problems to date (6 months). The picture quality is outstanding and there are tons of inputs. The only feature I wish the tv had was an audio input so that I can route my xbox’s audio through the tv instead of switching inputs on the stereo receiver when i go from tv to xbox. The ’slimfit’ marketing scheme is slightly skewed in that the tv is still extremely heavy. A lot of neighbors got a good laugh as they watched me try to carry this thing up 3 flights of stairs alone. But it fits nicely into my entertainment center and all my guests think its LCD until I tell them otherwise.

I purchased this TV when flat panel units starting becoming really popular and more affordable. At the time, I wanted an HDTV, but my budget didn’t allow for a flat panel unit (which in 2006 were still pricey to me). Side-ny-side comparison viewing with similarly-priced CRT displays led me to purchase this Samsung. Here it is, 2009, and the TV still looks fantastic, save for a small and usually unnoticeable flaw.br /br /Right out of the box the picture is excellent. I do not own a Blu-Ray player, which doesn’t matter much since this TV doesn’t produce 1080p picture. DVD movies look wonderful, as well as Xbox games. I have never messed with picture presets, since I usually prefer a custom setting. It didn’t take long at all to get the picture the way I wanted it. However, over the past year or so, I started getting the discoloration effect in the upper left corner everyone talks about. Honestly, I only notice it when using my Xbox, or when the entire screen is one bright color. And it is too small to affect anything. It’s also the only reason I gave the picture quality 4 out of 5 stars.br /br /Sound quality is mediocre, but fine for a television. I have a good surround sound system, so I don’t consider it an issue. I have never found TV speakers to be very dynamic anyway. I don’t understand why people think they’re gonna get fantastic sound from tinny television speakers. The sound is acceptable, though, and it does a OK job trying to simulate 3D soundfields.br /br /The menus are easy to navigate and laid out in a simple, straightforward manner. The remote, though not particularly comfortable to use with my fairly large hands, was not too terribly complicated. Some buttons are kind of small, but like I said, I do have big hands. I use the multifunction remote from my Pioneer receiver anyway, so whatever.br /br /Overall, the Samsung TXS-3082WH is a wonderful CRT HDTV. Sad thing is, nowadays you can pick up a larger sized 1080p LCD for less than the 9 price tag this unit bore. I am about to replace this TV with a flat-panel (probably the Panasonic G10-series 50″ plasma), but I will keep it, as it still makes a very good second TV. I will use it until it breaks. Good job, Samsung.

I’ve had an older model of this tv for almost two years. It broke once in the first month, got it fixed for free from best buy. It’s been working great since then.br /br /A lot of the reviews complain about misalignment or severe bowing around the corners. My tv doesn’t do this at all, but I have seen some that have. My guess is that it’s the luck of the draw–I got lucky. The only problem with the screen is best buy’s fault. When they fixed it, they must have turned the brightness up, because now i have a minor burn-in on the lower right corner…way to piss me off! My other complaint is that CRT’s are old technology. They are so damn heavy, it’s a pain to move it. Check out LCD’s.br /br /My recommendation is if you’re on a severe budget but want an HDTV, get this. Get it at a local store because there are many potential problems, you can just go get it swapped. br /br /If, however, you have a little more (meaning a couple hundred more) to spend, I’m going to suggest the Sharp Aquos line of tv’s. If you shop at the right times, you can get a 26″ or even a 30″ for around 700. If you’re in the market for an HDTV and want quality, you’re pretty limited to Samsung (best), Sony, and Sharp. Everything is notably inferior when compared side to side. If you’re going for extreme budget, go with Vizio. br /br /I give this four stars because for the my tv, it’s a great quality with a good budget. However, compare it to an LCD, and there are a lot of faults. One thing CRT’s will always have an upper hand is the richness of black colors. Happy Shopping!

I have treated this TV with kid glove. Not like you see on TV new and in person when the owners of new TVs drag the TV then drop it off the curb and drive it home upside down etc. I have a quality surge protector on it that also has a filter. Not your power strip. I kill anyone that turns it off then on in seconds as that is bad for any TV. I do not let people get near it with anything magnetic even dust busters etc.br /I think all new tech have problems but my Slim-tube CRT has been as good as day one even now.br /By the Way you all know that LCD and Plasma are dead tech as Feds and Seds and all are going to make them obsolete and the Feds that I think they renamed FET is a CRT tv with OUT the Tube as it uses thousands of guns behind each pixel and is cheap item to make but better in image quality.

Samsung TX-S2783 27″ Slimfit TV CustomerReview

I bought this TV locally about 18 months ago and the retailer had it on sale for 9.00 IIRC. My previous bedroom TV had died, and I was looking for a quick fix. This set fit the bill 110% at that time. The set is definitely slimmer in profile and that’s helped by the overall design. The picture is excellent as is the sound. If I had to complain about anything… I guess I wish it had a built-in digital tuner. Not a HD tuner, just a tuner that would accommodate the switchover from analog. But right now, it’s hooked up with a comcast cable box so it’s a moot point until I cancel the service and see what I get. With the price of digital tuner TVs dropping every day, I almost consider this set a fill-in. But once again… it is a very nice TV with a super picture.
