Invicta Men’s 9937OB Pro Diver Collection Coin-Edge Swiss Automatic Watch CustomerReview

I recently purchased this watch from Amazon.com, and wanted to give my first impressions on it. Let me say it is a lot more solid built than I figured it would be for the price. The case appears bulletproof and the bracelet is no different. I can honestly say this watch does not feel “cheap” in any way. The fact that it has the Swiss movement makes it even more appealing. I was nervous after reading some reviews of this watch, but I’m glad I took the chance. The second hand sweep is much smoother than any of the watches I own with a Japanese automatic movement. If you watch close you can still see it “stutter” around the dial, but so do 90% of the high dollar Swiss made watches. The date magnification is excellent. I can read it even with my arm fully extended. I would have preferred a solid back to an exhibition back for perceived durability, but the back appears just as solid as the rest of the watch. I know that some reviewers have mentioned it’s inaccuracy. Please be aware that with any automatic movement there is always a degree of error. So far new out of the box mine is about 10 seconds fast in a 24 hours. To me this is not an issue, but I know some are unsatisfied by it. Please note that any automatic watch will usually run fast the first few weeks while it is being broken in. That is the difference between this and some of the 5K watches, on the more expensive models they do the break in at the factory and then regulate it before sending it out, but how much do you expect for over 4.5K less. If this is an issue to you, either buy a quartz model or wear this one for 2 months and take it to a reputable watch repair center to have it regulated. Just keep in mind that will void the factory warranty. So let’s move on to a few other minor issues I have with it. Although the deployment clasp is exactly like every other one with a safety clasp, I would have preferred a double button release. This is due to my fingers being large and the issues it creates with opening the safety clasp. I will say this though it is only personal preference and the safety and deployment clasp work flawlessly. They are extremely tight, and I would have no issues with taking this watch with the included bracelet on a dive. Noting short of intentional working of the clasp will open it. That said I purchased 2 other silicon style bands for use when in the water. The spring bar attachments should make it easy to change back and forth. My only other issue is the bezel. Although the coin-edge looks fantastic compared to other designs, it is not very functional. Trying to turn it with dry, un-gloved hands is tough at best. I can’t imagine attempting to work it with wet hands or while wearing a full wet suit with gloves. If you are serious into SCUBA diving, you’ll probably rely more on a dive computer anyway vs the turn bezel on the watch, but since it is always good to have a back-up system, it would be nice if it was a bit easier to work. I do appreciate the look though and for a casual everyday watch this complaint can be overlooked.

Don’t listen to the reviewers who say this watch feels or looks cheap! This watch is heavy, solid, and very well made. It’s size, color, and finish really exceeded my expectations when I first opened the box. In fact, sometimes I still take it out just to admire it. It also looks almost exactly like the Rolex equal (maybe 98% the same). I also enjoy the coin-edge bezel more than the newer scalloped version. The only slight concern I have is the screwdown crown. Sometimes it feels like the threads are crossing a little. One has to be very careful when first engaging the treads on a screwdown. If you love the Rolex version but don’t want to spend your children’s college fund for a watch that you can’t wear or you’ll cry when it’s scratched, then this Invicta watch will really satisfy! Trust me br /

I already owned a very similar Orient watch and the original, i.e. a Rolex Submariner. So, I decided to buy this “Invicta Submariner”, if I may call it such.br / This watch is superb. Its finish is immaculate and absolutely perfect, quite probably better finished than the Rolex, believe it or not. The magnifying lense in the date is by no means as effective as in the Rolex or Orient; The Invicta is larger and heavier and its bracelet lacks the quick deployment extension that we find in the Rolex. (to wear over the diving suit)br / The watch is incredibly well made; the only think I really disliked was its glass case back. Others may like it, but I prefer steel. Another thing I really loath is the “INVICTA” engraving that these watches display in the left flank of the case. I’ve never seen this in any other watch. If you wear this watch with long sleeve you will probably have a growing tendency to disregard it, however.br / Altough Invicta is a (American owned?) Swiss brand, you will find a Japanese Automatic Miyota movement inside these watches. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, quite the opposite. Miyotas are what we normally find in Citizens, and you can rest assured that such movement will provide you a lifetime of good service and spares are plentiful. In what concerns its accuracy, I’m sure that it won’t beat my Rolex, whose daily deviation is sometimes zero, or at the most one or two seconds; I haven’t used mine yet but I guess that it must be around the usual minus 5 plus 10 seconds per day. If you want to improve it, wear your new watch for at least some 20 days for a break in period and then take it to a good watchmaker to be fine tuned. If it was making, say, 12 seconds per day it will henceforth make about five, sometimes less. In the end of a week that makes quite a difference. Anyone wearing a mechanical watch must know that. Your watch accuracy can be improved. A great many people is unaware of this.br / This is a excellent watch, as well finished as the Orient and probably better so than the Rolex, and very affordable. It is not as valuable as a Rolex, wich is a good thing because I wouldn’t use mine in the beach, nor with short sleeve. I held both in my hands and can assure you that no watch is more beautiful than the other, and actually, to me the Invicta has the more adequate (larger) size.br / One last thing: my first watch was promptly returned, because it had a scratch. I want everybody to know that Amazon mabe a superb job, sending me a perfect replacement in four days(!)USA to Portugal, even before they had received back the scratched first watch. Such unbeatable customer service must be highly commended, and I only wished that all other retailers in the internet were as good…

I already owned a very similar Orient watch and the original, i.e. a Rolex Submariner. So, I decided to buy this “Invicta Submariner”, if I may call it such.br / This watch is superb. Its finish is immaculate and absolutely perfect, quite probably better finished than the Rolex, believe it or not. The magnifying lense in the date is by no means as effective as in the Rolex or Orient; The Invicta is larger and heavier and its bracelet lacks the quick deployment extension that we find in the Rolex. (to wear over the diving suit)br / The watch is incredibly well made; the only think I really disliked was its glass case back. Others may like it, but I prefer steel. Another thing I really loath is the “INVICTA” engraving that these watches display in the left flank of the case. I’ve never seen this in any other watch. If you wear this watch with long sleeve you will probably have a growing tendency to disregard it, however.br / Altough Invicta is a (American owned?) Swiss brand, you will find a Japanese Automatic Miyota movement inside these watches. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, quite the opposite. Miyotas are what we normally find in Citizens, and you can rest assured that such movement will provide you a lifetime of good service and spares are plentiful. In what concerns its accuracy, I’m sure that it won’t beat my Rolex, whose daily deviation is sometimes zero, or at the most one or two seconds; I haven’t used mine yet but I guess that it must be around the usual minus 5 plus 10 seconds per day. If you want to improve it, wear your new watch for at least some 20 days for a break in period and then take it to a good watchmaker to be fine tuned. If it was making, say, 12 seconds per day it will henceforth make about five, sometimes less. In the end of a week that makes quite a difference. Anyone wearing a mechanical watch must know that. Your watch accuracy can be improved. A great many people is unaware of this.br / This is a excellent watch, as well finished as the Orient and probably better so than the Rolex, and very affordable. It is not as valuable as a Rolex, wich is a good thing because I wouldn’t use mine in the beach, nor with short sleeve. I held both in my hands and can assure you that no watch is more beautiful than the other, and actually, to me the Invicta has the more adequate (larger) size.br / One last thing: my first watch was promptly returned, because it had a scratch. I want everybody to know that Amazon mabe a superb job, sending me a perfect replacement in four days(!)USA to Portugal, even before they had received back the scratched first watch. Such unbeatable customer service must be highly commended, and I only wished that all other retailers in the internet were as good…
