Stührling Original is proud to present its latest offering in a skeleton mechanical automatic…the Winchester Grand. This exquisite timepiece is anchored by the same reliable 20-jewel mechanical automatic movement (cal. ST-90089) as previously seen in two of Stührling’s all-time best selling timepieces (Delphi Alpine), only this time this star movement exhibits even more detailing and hand engraving than ever before! The simple three-hand movement with the well proportioned onion style crown and the blue Dauphine style hour and minute hands makes for a reliable and eye-catching timepiece that is never out of place. The engraved scrollwork faceplate on the movement makes for a stunning look while the grooved flange gives some semblance of indices and serves as a reminder that this is after all a timepiece! The large 44mm round case is constructed of solid 316L surgical grade stainless steel and is finished so elegantly with its beveled polish bezel. The Krysterna™ crystal on top is domed and the flat Krysterna™ crystal fixed into the screw-in case-back is extra large for ease of viewing all the way through the Winchester Grand. I loved this watch the moment I saw it on Amazon, and decided to take a chance on it despite the fact that internet photos are sometimes too good to be true. The Winchester is a quality watch. It looks and feels sturdy, and it does not deviate in any weird ways (i.e. shoddy craftsmanship, huge face, bad strap) from its photographic representation on Amazon. I like that you can actually see the coiled spring tense inside as you wind the crown manually. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. The watch also comes with a two year warranty; I will update this review if I ever have problems to share.

I received this watch promptly and i can say this – it looks just as beautiful as the image – it really is a piece of art and will definitely get you comments on its look. My only 2 comments are this – amazon lists this as having a calendar date feature. This watch doesnt have a perpetual calendar, or any calendar for that matter. Thats amazons mistake though, not Stuhrling. The other comment I have for this is that while it is fully automatic, the “sweeping second hand” isnt quite as sweeping as some other watches. You can see the mechanical clicks if you look at it, but still, its a great watch for the price, and in this price range I dont think i’ve seen a watch quite as nice looking as this one, I am very happy with it and would recommend it if you can look past the 2 things i noted above!

It needs no battery, but it will stop if you have been physically inactive for an extended period of time–as long as you’re moving, the watch will stay powered. Swiss watchmaker Abraham-Louis Perrelet invented the self-winding mechanism in 1770. It worked on the same principle as a modern pedometer, and was designed to wind as the owner walked.

This is a beautiful watch of high style and craftsmanship. I’ve only had it a week and get tons of complements on it, it’s a real eye catcher. The blue hands are a nice touch, where silver or white, or even black would get lost in the detail of the watch, the blue really stands out without being gaudy. The automatic winding mechanism and all the machinework is beautifully exposed through both the crystal and the clear watch back.br /br /There are 2 things that keep this from being a 5-star review. 1) the band isn’t particularly comfortable. It’s overly stiff and the loop that holds the loose end of the band rubs on my wrist at times. 2) the crystal has cristp black lettering that says “Stuhrling Original” but it’s not perfectly centered on the 12, it looks like the crystal was put on just slightly rotated from center. It’s barely noticeable, in fact I didn’t spot it until I saw another person write the same thing in their review, but I can clearly see it now.

I couldn’t be happier with this watch! The detailing and craftsmanship are stunning, and invite comments and admiration whenever someone happens to see it. I’ve worn the watch off and on for about a week now, and it has kept perfect time. The manufacturer states that it has a 36 hour power reserve when fully wound, but I have been able to leave it in it’s case for two days without it running completely down. As mentioned in previous posts, the leather band was a little stiff when I first took it out of the box, but it quickly softened with wear.br /br /Overall, I would definitely recommend this timepiece to anyone who would like a stylish and reliable watch.
